The Youngest Model for Lilly Lu's Collection!

Last week I had a friend, teacher, and photographer approach me about making a few custom headbands for a newborn photo session.  I jumped at the opportunity!  Not only are these hair pieces wonderful for women, but they are darling for little girls, toddlers, and newborns.  Hope Hughes, photographer and owner of [hhc] photography, did me the honor of getting these great shots of Maci and my hair pieces!

Here is the premiere of Maci Collins modeling for Lilly Lu's Collection:

The Joy of Etsy.com

While setting up shop on Etsy.com, I found myself finding other amazing shops.  Needless to say, I went shopping!  There are so many creative, unique, beautiful, and useful things right at your fingertips.  Even if you know you don't need it, it may be something too cute to pass up!  One good thing about buying things off of Etsy?  It is like Christmas morning or your birthday when you get something in the mail!  Here are a few of the items that I just had to buy!

I fell in LOVE with this necklace online and loved it even more once I got it in the mail! It is simple, yet elegant in a way.  It also reminds me of the movie P.S. I Love You (which is one of my favorites).  This came from the shop, Patricia Jewelry.  I am already eyeing other great pieces of art in this Etsy shop!

If you haven't heard already, I am a huge fan of owls.  They are my FAVE!  When I ran across these mini note cards, I knew I had to have them.  Little Sketchy Cards is the shop in which these adorable cards belong to.  I got them in the mail last week, and I still haven't used them yet.  They are too cute that I want to use them for just the right thing!

A little information from the shop:
"Cards are printed with an inkjet printer on a bright white cardstock note card. The owls started out as a pencil drawing that was outlined in Sharpie marker and then scanned to make a digital image."

How cool is that?

Being a Kindergarten teacher, I had my kiddos in mind on this purchase!  I had the pleasure to receive help from a wonderful shop, Feisty Owl Studio.  Being new to Etsy, I need all the help that I can get.  Feisty Owl Studio came through with flying colors.  That was when I was introduced to her vast amount of "curious gifts".  And yes, they are just as fun to wear as they look!  If anything else, you will be dealing with a wonderful, pleasant, and kind creator of Feisty Owl Studio!  Just look at her name: "Hi, I'm Tracesea (which is pronounced like 'Tracy' but just spelled funny"

I have not received these yet, but I can't wait!!!  Believe me, I crossed my fingers and toes they would be in the mail today.  I have no idea what I am going to use these adorable owls for, but rest assure, they will be put to good use!  Go check out this shop!!  They came from The Paige Spot.  Need something creative, extra sparkle, that last finishing touch?  This is the place to look!  And get this. . she accepts custom orders!!  Her main goal?   ". . .To help out anyone who either does not have the time to scrapbook or make any type of paper crafts."

Well, instead of buying, I better get busy!  I have truly enjoyed receiving these little bundles of joy in my mailbox throughout the week!  Take the time and go check them out!  You don't have to have a shop on Etsy to purchase.  Everyone is welcome!  While your at it.. would it hurt to stop by Lilly Lu's Collection also??

Have a wonderful night my dear friends!. . .Elizabeth

Oh, What a Night!

After receiving an e-mail announcing my two hour ADEPT meeting was cancelled. . . I couldn't wait to get home and relax!  What relaxing means to me?  A good movie, great company, and working on some new products!

I have been meaning to try out some headbands with my yoyo's and finally sat down and did it!  They turned out darling!    This week I will be working on three different headbands for a newborn photo shoot!  I can't wait to get started and post photos to share.  In the meantime, here is the headband I wore today to work to go with my favorite color. . . GrEeN!!

My purple and green headband!
I have also been seeing these adorable "rolled flowers" on Etsy.com that I have been wanting to try!  I just didn't know how.  I found a tutorial tonight and got started.  By this time, I only had the patience to try one.  Tomorrow I will try a few more.  My goal is to use one for one of the newborn headbands.  Look out though. . they will be part of some new hair pieces in the near future.

My First Treasury! "What A Hoot on Etsy"

I have completely fallen in love with anything that has owls on it!  I have even contemplated if I should change my kindergarten theme from sailboats/sailors to owls!  Etsy.com offers an array of owl products, so why not showcase those that I fell in love with (and some things that I purchased)!

I even created owl coasters of my own.  What's next?  Another owl coaster set, owl hair pieces, and maybe an owl pacifier clip.  We shall see!  Until then, enjoy!

Featured in an Etsy Treasury!

One of my newest hair pieces, Tropical Zebra, was featured in an Etsy.com Treasury.  A treasury is where shop owners of Etsy create a list of homemade products on Etsy that follow a theme.  This particular theme was "For Cold Days and Warm Colors".   I'm hoping to create one of my own here soon with the theme "Owls".

Thank you SibelDesign (http://www.etsy.com/shop/SibelDesign) for featuring Lilly Lu's Collection!

Please Welcome. . . . Lilly Lu's Collection!

Where to begin??

Let me introduce myself.  My name is Elizabeth Thompson. . . a kindergarten teacher by day and a crafter/artist by night!  I am very excited about starting a blog.  It is something that I have wanted to for awhile, so why not start on 1-1-11??

Through this blog I will be posting my new creations that fall under the name "Lilly Lu's Collection".   Right now I have an array of hair pieces that are all handmade (each unique in itself).   It is my love of creating pieces of art work inspired within and desired to share that gives me my drive. I am always open to suggestions, new ways of doing things, and creating that one item that makes someone smile.

Keep checking in because I am only beginning!  Soon (hopefully) I will be offering hair clip, headbands, pacifier holders, and unique coasters for your home.

Let's get this new year rolling!!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!
